Investing in Your Well-Being
Choosing therapy is an investment in your relationships, peace of mind, and long-term well-being. At Two Currents Counseling, I keep the process transparent and supportive from the start.
Session Rates
Fees are set on a sliding scale for private pay, so that good counseling stays within reach. Where you land depends on your household income and size, not on a case by case judgment, and a limited number of reduced fee spots are held for genuine financial need.
- Individual, 55 minutes: $80 to $135
- Couples and family, 55 minutes: $110 to $190
- Couples and family, 90 minutes: $150 to $260
Most clients fall in the middle of each range. These are ranges, not quotes. We settle your actual private pay fee together at your free consultation, so you know it before your first session.
Couples intensives and other extended work are offered at a set rate, with payment plans available on request.
Private Pay
Many clients choose to pay privately rather than using insurance, especially for couples and family therapy. Insurance companies typically only cover treatment for a diagnosable mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety, for one identified client, not for relationship-focused work. This means that couples or family sessions are generally private pay. They qualify for insurance only when the work is clearly tied to treating a diagnosed condition in one identified client, not when relationship distress itself is the main concern.
Private pay removes those limitations. It allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and control over your care, including session length, structure, and therapeutic approach, without the diagnostic or administrative requirements of managed care.
Some services, such as premarital counseling and parent coaching, are private pay only and are billed at the private pay couple and family rates.
Payment is accepted by cash, check, or all major credit cards.
Insurance
The plans below apply to individual therapy. Couples and family sessions are generally private pay, and are covered only when the work is clearly linked to a clinical diagnosis for one identified client.

Questions to ask your insurer:
- Does my plan include outpatient mental health benefits?
- What is my copay or coinsurance per session?
- Do I have a deductible, and has it been met?
- Is Michael Osborne, LPC / Two Currents Counseling in network for my plan?
- Do I need a referral or preauthorization?
If your plan is out of network, I'm happy to provide a superbill for potential reimbursement.
